The top 10 teams from schools across Poland competed in the finals of the European Financial Quiz 2024/2025 (EQF) on March 25. The road to the finals was no small feat – to qualify, students had to advance through the school stage, the regional stage, and the semi-finals, defeating over 400 teams!
Young finance champions will represent Poland in the European finals of the Competition
First place and the title of National Winners were awarded to Martyna Kura and Andżelika Kolbusz from the Primary School in Chałupki Dębniańskie (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). They will represent Poland in the European Money Quiz finals, which will take place on May 22 and 23 in Brussels. The students will compete against dozens of teams from across Europe. The winning team's mentor and the school's EQF Coordinator is Ms. Monika Płocica.
Second place in the national finals was taken by Mikołaj Drumiński and Jakub Kułakowski from the Michałów Land Primary School in Gortatów, located in Szczuka (team supervisor – Ms. Ewa Mikielewicz), and third place went to Lena Wiktor and Kajetan Pompa from the International Primary School of Innovative Education in Łódź (team supervisor – Ms. Katarzyna Komar).
Economic education in the spotlight
The EQF national final also featured a conference, attended by more than just the best teams. Over 5,300 students and teachers from schools across Poland participated in the nationwide online lesson, "Small Steps to Big Savings: How to Manage Money Wisely." The webinar was led by Dr. Magdalena Wiercioch, who presented the youth with key principles for managing their household budget and saving, among other things.
The second part of the finals was attended by schools from across Poland and their supervisors. The special guest of the event was Dr. Tadeusz Białek, President of the Polish Bank Association, who in his speech emphasized the significant role of economic education in shaping the financial literacy of the young generation.
„"Both Poland and our financial sector need very good finance specialists. As finalists of the national edition of the European Financial Quiz, you are well on your way to becoming such specialists," President Białek told the competition participants.
„"The history of the European finals shows that Polish winners represent a high level. Polish students have twice been on the podium, including winning once. During the recent final in Brussels, Polish students answered all the final questions correctly," added the President of the Polish Bank Association.
The 8th edition of the EQF in numbers
The 8th edition of the European Quiz Competition is being organized in cooperation with the National Bank of Poland as part of the economic education program. This year's competition attracted over 4,700 students from across Poland, with over 400 two-person teams registered. Over 12,000 participants participated in all the competition-related activities.
The European Financial Quiz is a knowledge competition on finance and cybersecurity, aimed at 7th and 8th grade primary school students. National editions are held simultaneously in dozens of European countries, in cooperation with the European Banking Federation.
The Polish edition of EQF is organised by the Warsaw Institute of Banking Foundation, and the Partner is the Polish Bank Association.
