Our activities
Activities within the BfE Programme are concentrated within nearly 20 projects, diversified in terms of target groups, forms and frequency of implementation.
National Center for Economic Education
www.kcee.edu.plThe National Center for Economic Education was established under an agreement signed on January 14, 2025, in the Senate of the Republic of Poland as a joint initiative of organizations recognizing the key role of economic education in building an informed and responsible society. The National Center for Economic Education supports the development of financial literacy through the activities of nine thematic teams, workshops for students and teachers, and the creation of a digital database of projects, reports, research, and strategies. The Center's experts also engage in legislative work on education law and core curricula. The project brings together over 100 experts and 12 signatory organizations, and its activities are culminated in an annual conference dedicated to the implementation of the National Financial Education Strategy.
Economic Education Congress
www.kee.plThe Economic Education Congress is Poland's most important annual forum dedicated to assessing and fostering dialogue on economic education. Since 2017, in partnership with the GPW Foundation, we have been creating a space for discussion about the role of universal financial literacy, the principles of economic operation, and macroeconomic processes. The event is attended by representatives from public administration, the financial sector, non-governmental organizations, schools, universities, and the media. The Congress features an extensive agenda of presentations, debates, and one-on-one conversations, a presentation of the results of the "Level of Financial Literacy in Poles" survey, Open Educational Activities for various age groups, and a KEE media studio.
Active Local Government
Active Local Government is a nationwide initiative of cooperation between the banking sector and local government units to foster economic education for residents. Since the first agreement was signed in Wrocław in 2016, over 400 local governments at all levels have joined the program, supported by over 1,000 local government employees. The project develops educational activities for children, youth, students, and seniors, and a key element is partnerships with local media, which use the prepared materials in portals and newsletters. Over 100 local government and regional media outlets currently support the collaborative development of residents' financial literacy.
BACILLUS
www.bakcyl.wib.org.plBAKCYL is one of the most recognizable financial education projects for primary and secondary school students in Polish schools, implemented in collaboration with banks, local governments, schools, and educational institutions. For years, it has engaged volunteers from the banking sector who conduct in-person and online lessons, supported by nearly 120 banks and foundations. It has already reached over a million students, 18,000 teachers, and over a thousand trained volunteers, with the total number of lessons conducted exceeding 50,000. BAKCYL also includes meetings with sector leaders, workshops for students, teachers, and volunteers, and competitions to develop young people's financial knowledge and skills.
The Adventures of Entrepreneurial Jack
www.przedsiebiorczydzek.pl„"The Adventures of Entrepreneurial Jack" is a project inspired by Janusz Korczak's book "The Bankruptcy of Little Jack," addressing the challenge of low levels of entrepreneurship in Poland. The program supports the development of entrepreneurship as a key competence in European education and provides teachers with practical tools for imparting economic knowledge. It is aimed at primary and first-grade secondary school students and is under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of National Education. It has contributed to the reinstatement of Korczak's original book on the supplementary reading list. The project includes online lessons, ready-made scripts and presentations, workshops for teachers, a set of "Entrepreneurial Jack" materials, a radio play, and competitions, engaging over 250,000 students.
Kidnapped by the Economy
www.porwaniprzezekonomie.pl„"Kidnapped by Economics" is an educational project based on the book "Economics for the Curious" by Professor Witold Orłowski, one of Poland's most respected economists. Its goal is to develop general economic knowledge among young audiences – students in upper secondary schools and the final years of primary schools. The program includes online lessons, ready-made scripts and presentations for teachers, training workshops, a set of "Kidnapped by Economics" materials, a radio play, and competitions. Over 470,000 students, supported by nearly 1,500 teachers, have already participated in the project, and the number of lessons conducted is approaching 20,000.
European Money Quiz
www.eqf.wib.org.plThe European Financial Quiz is an international financial knowledge competition initiated by the European Banking Federation and co-organized by national banking associations. Two-person teams of students participate, passing through national pre-selections before competing in the European finals in Brussels. The quiz utilizes a modern, multimedia format and tests knowledge in areas such as saving, debt, interest rates, cybersecurity, and risk management. Over 800,000 students from 30 countries, including over 55,000 from Poland, have participated in eight editions. Polish teams have achieved multiple podium finishes, winning first place (2017/2018) and second place (2022/2023), and the organization of the national rounds has been recognized by the EBF.
Modern Business Management
www.nzb.plModern Business Management is one of the largest initiatives in Poland connecting the academic community with the financial sector. The project, implemented in collaboration with over 120 universities, was established in 2009 at the initiative of the Polish Bank Association and the Credit Information Bureau (KIR), with support from the National Chamber of Finance. Its mission is to improve the economic knowledge of students and academics, particularly in the areas of financial credibility, risk management, and the functioning of the financial market. The program includes in-person and online lectures, NZB conferences and seminars, partner competitions – including Score Hunter – and a competition for the best thesis. To date, over 430,000 students, supported by over 3,000 academic staff, have participated in the project.
FINSIM Academic League
www.liga.finsim.plFIN SIM – Academic League is a professional student competition based on a simulation of bank management in a volatile and competitive economic environment. It leverages over 20 years of experience with simulations developed at Stanford University and a new version developed with partner ITCB Hungary. Participants, working in teams and supported by mentors, make decisions regarding key areas of bank operations, learning risk analysis, financial management, and teamwork. The project is a learning experience: 13 editions, over a thousand participants, two hundred teams, and over forty universities represented.
Active Student
Active Student is a project implemented since 2018 in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and student organizations. Its goal is to popularize practical knowledge in the areas of personal finance, entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, and the labor market. The project supports the activation of young people, encouraging their development and social involvement. It includes training for first-year students, the Student Leaders Club, the "Active Student" newsletter, the "Student's Portfolio" report, and the "Financial Situation of Young Poles" study. To date, the initiative has attracted over 150,000 students, and nearly 400 conferences, training sessions, and meetings have been held in collaboration with over 100 institutions.
The National Academic Media Forum is Poland's largest permanent networking platform for student journalists. Its goal is to inspire young creators to develop in the media and PR industries and to disseminate knowledge useful at the threshold of adulthood – including economics and digital issues. A key element of the project is the annual OFMA National Conference, supported by leading journalists, PR experts, representatives of the academic community, and leaders from government and financial institutions. The project also includes the OFMA on Tour series, the Student Media Zone, and the "3 grosze o gospodarców" (3 grosze on economics) radio show and podcast. To date, the initiative has attracted nearly 1,500 participants and over 500 episodes.
Security in Cyberspace
www.cyber.wib.edu.pl„"Security in Cyberspace" is a nationwide educational project implemented since 2017, targeting various age and professional groups. Its goal is to popularize knowledge and shape informed and safe attitudes in the use of digital tools, including online banking. The program focuses on countering cyberthreats and disinformation, engaging the financial sector, payment companies, e-commerce, software producers, and public institutions, including the Ministry of Digital Affairs, NASK, and CBZC. The project includes educational lessons and meetings, the "CyberGeniusz" competition, debates, reports, and special campaigns. It has already reached nearly 2 million people, and over 20,000 students participated in an online lesson with the Minister of Digital Affairs.
Edu Smart Growth
www.edusmartgrowth.plEduSmartGrowth is an educational project aimed initially at secondary school students and teachers. Its goal is to raise awareness of sustainable development and shape attitudes that support responsible consumption, financial security, and sustainable economic growth. The initiative includes lessons and training for teachers, as well as outreach activities, and ultimately aims to encompass students at all levels of education, university students, and adults. Under the patronage of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the project has already attracted nearly 40,000 participants. It includes online lessons, the "ECO-nomy of Development – Young Leaders of Change" competition, and research on young people's attitudes towards sustainable development and the situation of women at the beginning of their careers.
Active Senior
Active Senior is a project aimed at people aged 60+ and their loved ones, supporting safe and informed navigation in the world of finance, banking, and cyberspace. Its foundation is collaboration with Universities of the Third Age and organizations serving seniors, as well as partnerships with public institutions, including the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), NASK, and CBZC. The program includes lectures and educational meetings, both in-person and online, educational zones, the "Active Senior" newsletter, the "Seniors in the World of Digital Finance" study, and special campaigns. To date, the project has reached over 800,000 recipients and has been featured in nearly 800 educational events. In 2023, WIB joined the Digital Seniors Coalition, supporting the development of digital competencies among older adults.

Program Operator
The "Bankers for Education" Program is operated by the Warsaw Institute of Banking Foundation - a leading NGO in Poland in the field of broadly understood economic education and an important voice in the discussion on the role of financial competences in professional and private life.
WIB enjoys the trust of thousands of entities – institutions, companies, organizations, schools, and universities – and over 3 million direct participants in its activities. It was its initiative to establish the Year of Economic Education in Poland and the National Center for Economic Education.
It is also a valued institution in the market for training and certification of financial sector employees, and also works on the forum of the Sectoral Council for Banking and Insurance Competencies to adapt the financial services landscape in Poland to the needs and challenges of the future.
Educational and training activities are supported by the Analytical and Research Program, based on effective collaboration between science and business. Through reports and seminars, it provides a source of expert knowledge on strategic challenges for banking sector executives.
