Weronika Karkosza and Kuba Sutuła from Zygmunt Gloger Primary School No. 12 in Białystok represented Poland in the finals of the European Money Quiz, held in Brussels. They placed 9th against teams from 30 European countries, demonstrating their excellent preparation and extensive knowledge of finance.
This year's European champions were students from Greece, with Latvia taking second place and Italy taking third.
A demanding road to the final
To qualify for the European final, the Polish team had to complete multi-stage qualifying rounds: the school stage, the regional stage, the semifinals, and the national final. Nearly 8,000 students participated in the entire competition across Poland, demonstrating the scale and popularity of the event.
The students were prepared for the competition by Małgorzata Jabłońska, the team leader and school EQF coordinator.
About the competition
The European Financial Quiz is Europe's largest financial knowledge competition for young people aged 13–15. Participants answer questions about topics such as:
- saving and investing,
- cybersecurity,
- protection against online fraud,
- conscious budget management.
Organization and partners in Poland
In Poland, the competition is organized by the Warsaw Institute of Banking in cooperation with the Polish Bank Association. This year's ninth edition is being implemented in cooperation with the National Bank of Poland as part of its economic education program, and PKO Bank Polski is a partner of the event.
