On May 17-18 of this year, the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia hosted the Pearls of Local Government 2018 conference. Organized by the editorial team of "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna," the conference was attended by over 200 local government officials from across Poland, as well as representatives of the Sejm, non-governmental organizations, and businesses. Representatives of the banking sector participated in the conference, and the event was sponsored by the "Bankers for Education" sectoral program.
Participants of the debate
During the first day, in addition to presentations and panel discussions, a special debate was held, co-organized by the Warsaw Institute of Banking, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, and the City of Gdynia, entitled "Saving? Not only in a piggy bank, but also online." The debate was opened by the Vice Mayor of Gdynia, Bartosz Bartoszewicz, and the Vice President of the Warsaw Institute of Banking, Waldemar Zbytek.
Young participants of the debate
More than a dozen students from primary schools in Gdynia participated, debating whether it's worth saving, how and where to do it, and why it's important to start thinking about retirement as early as possible. Participants also created a set of safety rules that every internet user should follow. A transcript of the debate will be published in a special issue of "DGP" on Children's Day on June 1st.
