Economics Across Borders! The Polish Pavilion at Expo 2025, a center for global economic education.

Over 11,300 pupils and students from Poland – representing 369 schools and 32 universities – took part
in a unique series of international online lessons broadcast straight from the Polish Pavilion
at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. This is just one of many activities of the Warsaw Institute of Banking and the National Center for Economic Education as part of the project "Dzek na Expo 2025. Economics beyond borders!". These activities were carried out during the Polish Science and Education Week at Expo – one
one of the key initiatives presenting Polish intellectual, scientific and teaching potential on the international stage.
During the classes, students from Polish schools and universities learned about the phenomenon of globalization and the opportunities and challenges it poses for national economies. The classes were led by distinguished Polish economists, Professors Witold Orłowski and Łukasz Hardt. The Minister of National Education, Barbara Nowacka, was a special guest at one of the classes, emphasizing that schools should broadly develop skills for the future, and that students should acquire not only theoretical but also practical knowledge. Furthermore, issues related to economics, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship should receive even greater attention from the earliest years of schooling.
Economic education and Janusz Korczak in the spotlight at the Polish Pavilion
A major event at the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2025 was a workshop devoted to economic education, the figure of Janusz Korczak, and the message conveyed by the book "The Bankruptcy of Little Jack," the original 100-year-old edition of which was displayed in a special display case as one of the exhibits representing Poland's cultural and educational heritage. Experts from Poland introduced guests to the Polish Pavilion to the legacy of this outstanding educator and his contribution to the development of economic education. They also presented the experiences of Polish economic education, particularly the achievements of the Year of Economic Education 2024 and the assumptions of the National Strategy for Economic Education, as well as the planned activities of the National Center for Economic Education and numerous educational projects.
In addition, nearly 1,000 students from over 30 Polish schools in 13 countries around the world participated
in a special lesson dedicated to economic education, conducted by a Polish school in Tokyo. Thanks to modern technology, Polish students from all over the world were able to expand their knowledge at the same time.
on globalization – its advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and challenges. This was one of the first educational activities of the Warsaw Institute of Banking addressed to Polish schools abroad – a project that
using the experience of the Year of Economic Education 2024, together with the Senate of the Republic of Poland, it will be developed
in the coming years.
A global approach to economic education
As Waldemar Zbytek, President of the Warsaw Institute of Banking and originator of the "Dżek na Expo 2025" project, points out, the high attendance and positive reception of the classes confirm the need for global educational activities that combine modern technologies, access to knowledge, and the exchange of international experiences. Therefore, for the next six months, translations of the book "Przygody mojego mojegoowego Dżek," inspired by Korczak's novel, are available for download at the Polish Pavilion and on the expo2025.pl website. Translations in nine additional languages will be released soon, and the knowledge contained in the book will have the opportunity to reach children and young people around the world with Janusz Korczak's message.
Expo 2025 in Osaka will run until October 13th. The theme of this year's World Expo is: "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." .
